FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the Volt Google Meet integration.
Do I need a Google Workspace plan?
No. The integration works with any Google account, including a free personal Gmail account. Meeting limits (such as the 60-minute cap on group meetings for personal accounts) follow your Google plan — Volt does not change them.
Can I schedule meetings for a future date?
Not yet. The integration currently supports instant meetings only — typing /meet in a chat creates a call that starts immediately. Scheduled meetings may be added in a future release.
Does it work in group chats?
Yes. The /meet command works in both individual and group chats. The meeting link is posted into the conversation so every participant can join.
Can each team member connect their own Google account?
Yes. The Google Meet integration is per user. Each Volt user connects their own Google account from Settings → Apps, and meetings they create are owned by their own Google profile.
I clicked Connect but the Google authorization window didn’t open or got blocked.
Make sure your browser isn’t blocking pop-ups for Volt. If the window still doesn’t appear, click Connect again — Volt will retry the OAuth flow.
I’m on Google Workspace and Connect failed with an admin-policy error.
Some Workspace organizations restrict which third-party apps users can install. Ask your Workspace admin to allow Volt in Google Admin → Security → API controls, or grant you permission to connect third-party apps.
Can I change the default meeting settings?
Meeting settings (host controls, background, captions, etc.) follow the defaults configured in Google Meet. Update them in Google Meet Settings and Volt will use the new defaults the next time you create a call with /meet.
How do I rotate or refresh my Google connection?
Go to Settings → Apps in Volt, click Disconnect next to Google Meet, then click Connect again to re-authorize.
Does Volt store my Google Meet recordings or transcripts?
No. Volt does not request access to Meet recordings, transcripts, calendar events, email, contacts, or Drive files. Volt only requests the scopes needed to create Meet calls and read your basic profile.
How do I uninstall the integration?
See Removing the Integration for full instructions. You can disconnect from inside Volt’s Settings → Apps, or revoke access from your Google Account permissions page .
Where do I report a bug or get help?
Email help@voltchat.com and include the platform you’re using (Mac, Windows, or Chrome), a description of the issue, and any reproduction steps. Our Support page has more details on what to include.
