QR Code & Connection Recovery

Use this checklist when WhatsApp will not link to Volt or a Volt Cloud QR code cannot be scanned.

Recovery checklist

Work through these steps in order:

  1. Turn off your VPN. A VPN can block the connection used during device linking. Disable it before relaunching Volt.
  2. Update WhatsApp on your phone. Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play, then try again.
  3. Wait after removing a linked device. WhatsApp can apply a short cooldown before another device may be linked. Wait a few minutes before scanning again.
  4. Let an expired QR code refresh. Do not keep scanning an expired code. Wait for Volt to generate a new one, then scan that code.
  5. Fully quit and reopen Volt. On macOS, use Cmd+Q. On Windows, close Volt completely rather than only closing its window. Reopen it and retry the scan.

If the session disconnects repeatedly

Fully quit and reopen Volt to clear a stale session. If you recently removed another linked device, wait through the cooldown before reconnecting.

If none of these steps works, contact help@voltchat.com and include your operating system, Volt version, and the step where the connection fails.
