Troubleshooting

If Volt Cloud won’t connect, or keeps disconnecting, work through these steps in order.

Connection issues

  1. Update WhatsApp on your phone. Volt Cloud requires a current version of the WhatsApp mobile app — update it from the App Store or Play Store before linking.
  2. Turn off your VPN. A VPN active on your computer or phone can block the connection — disable it while linking, then try again.
  3. Wait a few minutes after removing a linked device. If you recently removed a linked device from WhatsApp, WhatsApp needs a short cooldown before it will accept a new one.
  4. Refresh an expired QR code. The QR code shown in Volt expires after a short time — wait for it to refresh automatically, then scan again.
  5. Restart Volt. Quit Volt completely (Cmd+Q on Mac, or close it from the system tray on Windows) and reopen it, then try connecting again.

If none of these resolve it, email help@voltchat.com.

”Volt Cloud disconnected” banner

Seeing this banner in Volt doesn’t always mean the connection is broken — it can appear briefly during a normal reconnect. Try using a Volt Cloud feature again (for example, an MCP tool); if it works, the banner was just stale. If it persists, reconnect from Settings > Volt Cloud.

Frequent disconnects

If Volt Cloud disconnects repeatedly, a full restart usually clears it: quit Volt completely, reopen it, then reconnect from Settings > Volt Cloud.

Scheduled messages failing

If a scheduled message fails with an error like “no WhatsApp instance found for user,” Volt Cloud was disconnected at the time it was set to send. Reconnect Volt Cloud, then resend or reschedule the message.

Timeouts on large requests

If an AI client times out reading a large amount of chat history (for example, using the get-chat-messages MCP tool), narrow the date range or number of messages requested. Very active chats are the most common trigger.
