Setup Instructions

Connect your Google account to Volt in a couple of clicks. The integration is configured per user โ€” each Volt user connects their own Google account.

Before you start

Youโ€™ll need:

  • A Google account (personal Gmail or Google Workspace)
  • Volt installed on Mac, Windows, or Chrome (download here)

Connect Google Meet in Volt

  1. Open Volt and go to Settings โ†’ Apps.
  2. Find Google Meet in the list of available apps and click Connect.
  3. A Google authorization window opens. Sign in to your Google account if you arenโ€™t already, then review the requested permissions.
  4. Click Allow to authorize Volt to create Meet calls on your behalf.
  5. The window closes automatically and youโ€™ll see Google Meet listed as connected in the Volt Apps section.

Thatโ€™s it โ€” youโ€™re ready to start calls from any chat. See Using the Integration for how it works.

Permissions Volt requests

Volt requests the minimum scopes required to operate the integration:

  • Create calendar events with Meet links โ€” to create a new Google Meet call when you trigger /meet in a chat.
  • Read your basic profile โ€” to associate the created meeting with your Google account.

Volt does not access your existing calendar events, email, contacts, Drive files, or Meet recordings.

Google Workspace admins

Some Workspace organizations restrict third-party app access. If installation fails with a permissions error, ask your Workspace admin to allow Volt in Google Admin โ†’ Security โ†’ API controls, or grant you permission to connect third-party apps.
