Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

At Volt, we take your privacy seriously.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our services (“Services”).

We collect and process only the information needed to provide the features you choose to use.

1. Introduction

At Volt Chat LLC (“we”, “our”, or “us”), we provide productivity and messaging services through a subscription model. Some Volt features operate locally. If you connect Volt Cloud or use another cloud-based feature, the information needed to provide that feature, including WhatsApp message content and related data, may be securely processed and stored on our systems as described below.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, we may collect and process:

  • Basic account information for billing (name, email address, phone number)
  • Payment information (processed securely through our payment provider)
  • WhatsApp message content and related data, such as chat and contact identifiers, sender information, timestamps, message direction, and media type, when Volt Cloud or another feature requires it
  • Volt Cloud connection, synchronization, feature configuration, MCP API key, and MCP client information
  • Raw media only when required by a feature you enable or a configuration you select; Volt does not store raw media by default

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to:

  • Manage your subscription
  • Process payments
  • Communicate about service updates or issues
  • Provide customer support
  • Operate Volt Cloud and synchronize available messages with your Volt account
  • Provide features you enable, including message scheduling, chat summaries, integrations, and MCP access
  • Provide and improve the actions, suggestions, and results Volt performs on your behalf

We do not use your WhatsApp messages to train Volt's own AI models or any third-party or model-provider models. Message content may be processed to generate summaries of your chats or provide another feature or action you requested.

4. How We Share, Transfer, and Disclose Your Information

We do not sell your personal information or Google user data, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing purposes. We share information only in the limited circumstances described below:

  • Service providers: We share the minimum information necessary with vendors that help us operate the Services, under contractual obligations to protect your data. These include our payment processor (Stripe) for billing, our cloud hosting and infrastructure providers (Vercel and Amazon Web Services), and our product analytics providers (PostHog and Vercel Analytics).
  • AI model providers: When you use features that rely on large language models, such as chat summaries or AI-assisted actions, the relevant content may be sent to OpenAI or Anthropic solely to provide the result or action you requested. It is not used to train Volt's models or any third-party models.
  • MCP clients and services you connect: At your direction, Volt may provide message content and related data to an MCP-compatible client or service that you configure. That third party processes the information under its own privacy policy and terms.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
  • Business transfers: If Volt Chat LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have.
  • With your consent: We may share information for any other purpose with your explicit consent or at your direction.

We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties for purposes other than the ones provided above.

5. Google User Data

When you connect a Google account (for example, Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Drive) to Volt, we request the minimum OAuth scopes required to deliver the feature you asked for. We access your Google user data only to provide the requested functionality to you.

Volt's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular:

  • We do not sell Google user data.
  • We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements.
  • We do not use Google user data to train generalized AI or machine learning models. When Google user data is passed to our AI model provider (OpenAI) to fulfill a feature you have invoked, it is processed solely to return the result to you and is not used by OpenAI to train its models.
  • We do not allow humans to read Google user data except (a) with your explicit consent for specific messages, (b) when necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, (c) to comply with applicable law, or (d) in aggregated and anonymized form for internal operations.

We share Google user data only with the service providers listed in Section 4 that are strictly necessary to provide the features you use (for example, our cloud hosting provider to run the Services, and OpenAI when you invoke an AI feature on that data). You can revoke Volt's access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account permissions page, or by contacting us at help@voltchat.com to request deletion.

6. Volt Cloud and WhatsApp Data

Connecting Volt Cloud links a cloud-hosted device to your WhatsApp account. Available WhatsApp messages are then synchronized with your Volt account so enabled features can work when your computer is offline. The initial history made available by WhatsApp typically ranges from approximately one week to six months, depending on your WhatsApp account and linked-device configuration. New incoming and outgoing messages may continue to synchronize while Volt Cloud remains connected.

WhatsApp message data stored by Volt is encrypted in transit and at rest. Volt personnel cannot access WhatsApp message content. Disconnecting Volt Cloud stops future cloud operation but does not automatically remove message history already stored with your Volt account.

Message-history availability and retention may depend on your subscription plan and service configuration. We retain data only for as long as needed to provide the Services, meet the retention available under your plan, or comply with applicable obligations. If your subscription expires or is downgraded, history older than 30 days may be permanently deleted and may not be recoverable.

7. MCP Access and Controls

If you create an MCP API key and connect it to an MCP-compatible client, that client may use Volt to read available chats and messages and to request actions such as sending a message or changing a status. By default, Volt requests confirmation before most actions that affect WhatsApp. You may change these confirmation settings. Read-only operations and expressly authorized automated actions may occur without individual confirmation.

For certain actions that require access to your messages or media, Volt may ask you to share specific data needed to complete the action. We process only the data you choose to share for that purpose and solely to provide the result or action you requested.

MCP API keys provide meaningful access to your Volt and connected WhatsApp services. You should protect them like passwords and revoke any key you no longer use or believe may have been exposed.

8. Data Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information stored on our systems, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and security monitoring.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your billing information and any feature-specific data stored on our systems. You can request this information or its deletion at any time by contacting our support team.

10. Children's Privacy

Our subscription service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

12. Contact Us
