Assign tasks to anyone, even outside your workspace

Until now, tasks in Volt could only be assigned to people in your workspace. That works fine for internal teams, but a lot of WhatsApp conversations involve people outside your organization: freelancers, clients, vendors, agencies.

When you're coordinating work with them, you need a way to track (and let them know) what they owe you.

Tasks can now be assigned to any contact, whether they're part of your workspace or not.

Filter and track by assignee

The All Tasks drawer has a new filter by assignee. Each person shows their task count and an overdue indicator, so you can quickly spot who's falling behind or who has too much on their plate. This works across both workspace members and external contacts.

Task updates in the conversation

When someone completes a task, a notification appears directly in the chat timeline. It shows who completed it and what the task was.

This joins the existing notifications for when tasks are created, rescheduled, or updated. Your Volt team sees progress without having to check a separate task list.

People who don't use Volt won't see these notifications since tracking happens on your side.

Getting started

Open any conversation, hover any message and click the ☑︎ to create a task, and you'll see all contacts available in the assignee dropdown.
